Imagine female versions of Krishna holding up Govardhana Hill, a parade of Indian folk people, a demon giving discourse on disasters and communication. Well, Krishan has - much to be benefit of his diverse clientelle.
From playful to poignant, his illustrations have appeared in publications across the globe. Krishan always makes it a point of reflecting the cultural styles of his clients – both geographically and institutionally. This has led to a varied portfolio with illustrations drawing from Papua New Guinean Kambot storyboards to Indian Phad paintings to German expressionist woodcuts.
Culture is not the only factor taken into consideration when putting together illustrations. Context, audience, medium and (of course) budget and deadlines are also kept in mind. Krishan enjoy a good challenge and prides himself on being able to illustrate difficult concepts like “gender and disasters” or “organisational growth in a PNG context”.
“Krishan is exceptionally skilled to translate statistics into images and he can give living flavour to hard core facts. Art work which he drew on various brochures, posters, leaflets, booklets and publications, vividly depicted the subtle commonalities and differences of life in the South Asian sub-continent.”
